Lands with you
What you keep from the fares Today asks for, once fuel and your tax set-aside come off. Your regular bills are already counted in your week. More about this: Where does Today’s “You need $…” come from?
Take-home
Your fares after fuel, your regular bills, any one-off bill and your tax set-aside. Car wear isn’t taken off, because it isn’t cash. More about this: Why is my take-home lower than my fares?
Kept
On This week: your take-home so far plus the money held back for bills. It’s all yours; part of it is set aside. More about this: What are the four pots?
Held for bills
This week’s share of your Regular bills and One-off bills pots, kept back from what you kept so the money is there when a bill arrives. More about this: What are the four pots?
Regular bills
A pot for the bills that repeat, like insurance, a lease or your car loan repayments, shared out as a weekly amount. More about this: What are the four pots?
Car loan
Money you’re paying back on your car. The repayments are a regular bill; only the interest is a tax deduction. More about this: I’m paying my car off with a loan. What do I enter?
One-off bills
A pot for costs that don’t repeat: tyres and repairs saved for every km you drive, plus an estimate of your other one-off costs. More about this: What are the four pots?
Car wear
The value your car loses to the business each week (depreciation). It isn’t cash leaving your pocket, so it’s shown on its own. More about this: What is car wear, and why is it “not cash”?
Tax set-aside
What to put aside for income tax and ACC on what you make after costs. The Tax pot on Today shows this tax year’s amount. More about this: How much should I set aside for tax?
Running day total
The total an app shows for the whole day so far. WorthMile takes off what you already entered for earlier shifts that day. More about this: Which fare do I enter: this shift’s, or the app’s total for the day?
Driving day
The day you started driving. A shift that runs past midnight stays on the day it began. More about this: My shift went past midnight or 4am. How are fares split?
Platform day
When each app starts a new earnings day: Uber at 4am, Bolt and DiDi at midnight. More about this: My shift went past midnight or 4am. How are fares split?
Business-use %
The share of your car’s kilometres driven for work. It decides how much of your car costs you can claim. More about this: What is business-use %, and how does the app work it out?
90-day logbook
Once shifts with odometer readings cover 90 calendar days and pass a few checks, your business-use % is set from them for up to three years. More about this: What is the 90-day logbook?
Year-start odometer
Your car’s reading on 1 April. It keeps this tax year’s kilometres separate from earlier ones. More about this: What is the year-start odometer, and do I need it?
Depreciation
The value a car loses over time. WorthMile works it out at IRD’s rate from what you paid and when. More about this: What is car wear, and why is it “not cash”?
On pace for
Where your week’s take-home is heading if you keep driving the way you have. More about this: What does “On pace for” mean on This week?
Driving rate
What an hour on shift pays you after fuel, running costs and tax. Bills aren’t in it; they’re in your take-home. More about this: Why does my $/hr look low?
GST flat-rate credit
An amount on your monthly statement from the GST flat-rate scheme. WorthMile counts it as income. More about this: Why import my monthly statements?
Dead km
Kilometres driven on shift without a trip, like driving to a pickup. Worked out from the on-trip km on your monthly statements. More about this: Why import my monthly statements?
Drive and Drive+
WorthMile’s two plans. Drive covers your records and tax; Drive+ adds GPS tracking, Today’s target and your patterns. More about this: What’s the difference between Drive and Drive+?
