Why is my take-home lower than my fares?

Why is my take-home lower than my fares?

The short answer

Your take-home is your fares after fuel, your regular bills, any one-off bill and your tax set-aside. Those are real costs of driving, so the money you keep is smaller than what the apps paid.

  • Fuel: your own price from your fill-ups, or the national average until you log one.
  • Regular bills: a daily share of the bills you set up to repeat, including any car loan repayments.
  • One-off bills: a one-off expense paid that day.
  • Tax set-aside: what to put aside for income tax.

The shift recap shows each line. isn’t taken off, because it isn’t cash.

Do the apps’ fees come off too?

Enter what the app shows as your earnings. Platform fees from monthly statements are a tax deduction: see Monthly statements.
